West Chester's Ryan Nassib Awaits NFL Draft

The quarterback could be selected in Thursday's first round.

Ryan Nassib's NFL future could be settled on Thursday night.

The West Chester native who played his high school football at Malvern Prep and established himself at one of the top quarterbacks in the country at Syracuse University could be selected in the first round of the NFL draft, some pundits are projecting.

But while ESPN.com draftnik Todd McShay thinks Nassib will go No. 8 overall to the Buffalo Bills, who are now coached by his college coach Doug Marrone, the quarterback told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he isn't holding his breath.

The former St. Maximilian Kolbe School student says that wherever he winds up, he'll take a little bit of Philly with him.

"Wherever I go or wherever I've been, I've always made sure I never forgot where I came from and who helped me get to where I am today," Nassib told the paper. "Everything I learned, everything I am, is from Philly. Whenever I tell people why I do certain things, I say, 'Oh, man, it's a Philly thing.' . . . It's a huge pride thing to be able to say you're from the area."
