Golden Rams Softball Sweeps A Pair Down South

West Chester softball earns two wins on spring break trip.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department.

Kelly Anderson went a combined 6-for-7 with five RBI, and Kim Murl and Kate Skokowski picked up wins inside the circle, as West Chester’s softball squad downed New Haven and American International College during its spring break trip Saturday afternoon.

Anderson was a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBI in a 7-5 victory over AIC in the second game. The sophomore went 2-for-3 with a RBI in a 2-1 victory over New Haven in the first game. West Chester improves to 9-6 on the season with the two wins.

Murl (3-3) evened her record on the season in helping the Rams pull out a win in the pitchers’ duel against New Haven. Jess Schuck tripled and then scored on a Megan Kelly squeeze play to push the winning run across the plate in that contest.

Jess Russ and J.P. Norris were each 2-for-3 in the nightcap against AIC. Russ scored four runs while Norris tripled in a run and would later score as well.

Kate Skokowski (1-0) earned her first win in relief, coming on for starter Devon Utterback with the score tied at 4-4. Skokowski allowed just one run the rest of the way while West Chester plated three more to put the game away.

West Chester plays two more tilts on Sunday. The Golden Rams take on Stonehill College at 1 p.m. and then St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3 p.m.
