WCASD Welcomes Families Back to School

As the summer of 2012 comes to a close, our dedicated teachers and staff members are gearing up for another year of teaching nearly 12,000 students in the West Chester Area School District’s sixteen schools.

Renovations and construction have been moving at a frenetic pace at both Penn Wood Elementary and Westtown-Thornbury Elementary schools throughout the summer. When students return to these schools, they will be welcomed back to partially renovated and expanded facilities as the first phase of construction winds down.

 Sneak-a-Peek

Kindergarten parents are invited to attend Parent Orientation sessions at their elementary school on Wednesday, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. Elementary students are welcome to check out their classrooms and meet their teachers at “Sneak-a-Peek” open houses on Thursday, August 30 at the times listed below.

Parent Open Houses

Parents of students in all grade levels are encouraged to attend the District’s Back-to-School Open Houses listed below. These open houses provide an opportunity for parents to meet their children’s teachers and receive an overview of student expectations for the coming school year.

         ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (all schools EXCEPT Hillsdale & Penn Wood):

Grades K-2                 Thursday, Sept. 20

              HILLSDALE SCHEDULE:

               PENN WOOD SCHEDULE:

These open houses provide a starting point for you to become involved in your children’s educational experience. We invite you to become familiar with your school’s volunteer opportunities and the Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) and Home and School Associations (HSAs) which deliver access to school and community information through monthly meetings.
