WCASD Official Earns Recognition from the State

Brian Pawling will serve as a Pennsylvania Registered School Business Official

Brian Pawling joined the West Chester Area School District more than seven years ago in 2004, and over the next four years he will also be a member of a select group designated by the Pennsylvania Registered School Business Officials (PASBO) based in Harrisburg, for demonstrating "rigid personal, ethical, and professional standards of conduct."

Brian serves as the District's Purchasing Manager. That position has grown in importance, as the annual budget eclipsed $200 million, and a new focus on technology required a great deal of new knowledge and experience. He also acts as the Accounts Payable Supervisor in the Finance and Business Department.

According to the state organization, in order to be granted the professional registration status by PASBO, an individual must consistently meet the high professional, ethical, and personal standards established for the program and then must be reevaluated every four years.

In addition to his job responsibilities and commitment to his own ongoing professional development, Brian served on the committee that evaluated options for the District's "Before and After School Care" program currently being managed by the YMCA. One result of his committee work was a significant increase in revenue coming back to District taxpayers through the program's administration.

Brian earned a bachelor degree in secondary education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Alvernia University.
