Community Budget Task Force to Present Findings Wednesday

The Community Budget Task Force will present its findings on how to save the West Chester Area School District money on Wednesday at East High School.

The Community Budget Task Force will report its findings on December 7, 2011 at 7 pm in the Auditorium

The Community Budget Task Force was charged with finding budget reductions as well as new revenue sources. More than $3 million in findings will be reported on December 7 in an effort to help close a projected budget gap of approximately $5 million, or about 3% of the annual budget, for the 2012-13 school year.

The District is committed to involving the community in major decisions such as those that impact our annual budget. Demands for services continue to increase and revenues are forecast to decrease again in 2012-13 and beyond. It is more important than ever for us to hear directly from community members what the priorities are when it comes to making decisions about funding programs. The school board will begin evaluating the Task Force findings in January 2012 and will incorporate accepted findings in the final budget by June 2012.

The Task Force was divided into five areas consisting of 15 sub-committees in the following five areas:
* Class size
* Revenue
* Non-Instructional programs
* Instructional Programs
* Space Consolidation For more information, minutes of all sub-committee meetings, and a list of most commonly asked questions about the WCASD budget, please go to http://www.edline.net/pages/West_Chester_Area_SD/About_Us/Budget/Budget_Task_Force Thanks for supporting our schools!
