Borough Urged to Continue Private Security Patrols

The Public Safety Committee unanimously votes to continue security patrols in the neighborhoods surrounding West Chester University.

The Daily Local reports that the West Chester Borough Council Public Safety Committee voted unanimously to continue private security team patrols in the neighborhoods surrounding West Chester University next fall.

The item will move to full council for a vote at the end of June.

Last March the borough contracted with ELPS Security to have unarmed security guards patrol the university neighborhoods to supplement police patrols and cut down on quality of life violations.

According to the Daily Local, several residents in attendence at Tuesday's meeting said that the patrols have been successful, and that they would like to see them continue.
