A Look Ahead at Wednesday's West Goshen Supervisors Meeting

The Board of Supervisors is expected to hear an update on the police department's shooting range.

At Wednesday night’s West Goshen Township Board of Supervisors meeting the board is expected to hear an update on the township’s police shooting range.

At last month’s meeting, several residents expressed concerns about the shooting range’s proximity to nearby homes.

When a resident asked police chief Michael Carroll if the range met safety requirements, the chief assured the resident that the range was built to the codes in place when it was constructed in the ‘70s.

However, Chief Carroll also admitted that new standards for shooting range safety have since been created.

Chief Carroll said that the department was looking into the safety of the range and would evaluate if any changes were necessary.

Chief Carroll also said that the department has cancelled all range training sessions until at least April.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the board will consider reducing the speed limit on Kirkland Avenue to 25 miles per hour.

Kirkland Avenue sees a high volume of commuter traffic as it connects Boot Road and Pottstown Pike.

The board will also consider a planned 2,300 square foot expansion by the Chester County SPCA.
