Woman Tries to Rob Rite Aid

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

DUI: On Oct. 8, West Chester police officers responded to the 900 block of West Miner Street for a report of an accident.  Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle to be overturned, and the driver to be standing next to it.  The driver of the vehicle, Michael Chauner, allegedly stated he swerved to miss a deer and flipped his vehicle.  While police interviewed Chauner as to the cause of the accident he allegedly appeared to be unsteady on his feet, smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech.  According to police, Chauner allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

Retail Theft: On Oct. 8, at 2:50 p.m., 59-year-old West Chester resident Deborah Owens allegedly attempted to steal $100.86 worth of miscellaneous merchandise from the Rite Aid on East Gay Street.  Owens was charged for alleged receiving of stolen property and felony retail theft.
