West Chester Man Keys Car Over Parking Spot, Police Say

The 74-year-old vandal was charged with criminal mischief, according to West Goshen Police.

A 74-year-old West Chester man faces criminal mischief charges after West Goshen Police say he keyed a car that was parked at ACAC Fitness last month.

On March 22 at 9:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the McDermott Drive fitness center for a report of criminal mischief, according to court documents.

Police say the victim told the officer that she parked her car in the lot on March 21, and when she returned there were scratch marks on her driver’s side front and back doors. The victim later provided police an estimate of the damage to the car, which they say totaled over $1,100.

Fitness center management reviewed the security video, and police say they were able to identify the man who keyed the car. Officers located and spoke with the defendant, a 74-year-old Waterford Road resident, and the man admitted to damaging the vehicle, police say.

The defendant said he scratched the car because its owner parked in a spot he had waited for for over 15 minutes, police say.
