Man Desecrating Graves of Police Officers, Cops Say

A 23-year-old man faces charges after police find him with a Taser.

The following incident reports were provided by the West Chester Police Department. An arrest does not suggest conviction.

DUI on Rt. 842

On February 15 at 8:41 p.m., West Chester Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Rt. 842 and N. Creek Road in East Bradford Township. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Maryland man was charged with DUI and related traffic offenses.

Man with Taser

On February 16 at 1:37 a.m., West Chester Police responded to 20 S. High Street for a report of a man with a Taser. Upon officer’s arrival, a 23-year-old Collegeville man was found with a Taser in his possession. He was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon.

Dunk, Drugged, and Falsely Identified

On February 16, a 23-year-old Aston man was stopped by West Chester Police on the 50 block of S. High Street for public drunkenness. The man lied to police about his name and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, police say. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness, and providing false identification to an officer. He was also determined to have an active warrant in Philadelphia.

DUI on South High

On February 17, a 19-year-old Coatesville man was stopped on the 100 block of E. Market Street after WCPD saw him travel along S. High Street with his headlights out. Police determined he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and he was arrested for DUI and related traffic offenses, police say.

Law-Abiding Chase Ends in DUI

On February 7 at approximately 9:05 p.m., WCPD witnessed a white Toyota Camry commit a traffic violation on the 400 block of S. High Street. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over for seven blocks, but the driver didn’t comply. The driver did, however, obey all traffic laws during the brief “chase”—even stopping at red lights and patiently waiting for green, polcie say. The Devon man was arrested for DUI.

Desecrating the Dead

On February 15 at 10:40 p.m., a Wilmington, Delaware man was charged with desecration of flags after police observed him jumping on memorial markers for deceased police officers and fire fighters and pulling out their flags from the ground. The man was arrested for desecration of flags and public drunkenness and lodged in a cell, according to police.
