Chester County Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run

The following information is provided by the West Chester Police Department.

West Chester Police are investigating a hit-and-run that has left one person dead.

According to a release from the department, West Chester Police responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car at Bradford Avenue and West Nields Street at approximately 5 p.m. Dec 6. Police found Galina Demkiv, a 67-year-old woman from Oxford, PA, had been struck by a vehicle that had then left the scene, police say.

Authorities transported Demkiy to Chester County Hospital where she died due to injuries sustained during the crash, reports say.

According to reports, Demkiv is believed to have been crossing Bradford Avenue when a northbound vehicle struck her. Witnesses told police that the car was traveling with a steady green light.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the West Chester Police Department at 610-696-2700.
