'West Chester Pike' Book Shows the Road's History

A local author compiled Route 3's history between Chester County and Philadelphia.

A local author took on the story of West Chester Pike or Route 3 in the book aptly titled West Chester Pike.

The book is part of Arcadia Publishing’s book series Images of America, and explores the 20-mile stretch of road’s more than 400-year history, according to the Delaware County News Network.

“I love looking at those old pictures to see what things looked like 100 years ago, 150 years ago,” author Stephen Edgcumbe told the News Network. “When West Chester Pike was mostly a dirt road, horse carriages going up and down. I just find that interesting.”
