Moms Talk: Photos

Our moms talk about their favorite places to get photos taking.

Joining us for Mom Talk today is Sayre Cotherman, a stay at home mom and student; Jane Thompson-Rosenzweig, nutrition blogger (http://optimalhealthmama.blogspot.com/) and grad student; Katie Beck, stay at home mom and part-time bookkeeper; and the author, Sarah Alderman, freelance writer and realtor.

Patch: Tis the season for outdoor family photo sessions. Any favorite local photographers? Where would you choose to have your portraits taken in the region?

Sayre: For the record, I am not a fan of being a subject of photo sessions. That being said, I am lucky to have a brother-in-law that has an eye for photography and a true talent for capturing the quiet, tender moments that make being a family awesome. Check his website: http://www.reinerphotography.com/  He's so good at what he does that even if you don't make it down to Everhart Park or Stroud's Preserve (my 2 favorite photo session spots) he will give you plenty of frame-able pieces.

Jane: I have two favorite local photographers: Lisa Denardo http://www.earthmama101.com/ and Chrissie Raysor www.craysor.com

Katie: We LOVE Stringer Photography , they’re based out of Coatesville.  They did our wedding photography and our First Year in Life photography (for twins Benjamin and Annabelle, 1).  We would NEVER hesitate suggesting them.  Lori and Neville FTW!

Sarah: More than any other photos, I treasure the prints from my sessions at Stroud’s Preserve. It is so expansive and great for so many different atmospheres. You can get straight up country views, or focus on the fields of flowers, or get your feet wet since the river runs through it, with a great old stone bridge to boot.  The best photo I have ever taken of the girls was shot there, as well as the landscape photo of a double rainbow, which is the print I get the most requests for.
I’m a big fan of doing my own photography, and using my timer if I need to be in the shot. But I have seen lots of great work by Rebekah Ulmer, who does most of the photos for the families in the Chester County Mothers of Mulitples Club. She does an awesome set up with an old red wagon in front of barn doors that I go gaga for. She has great rates from what I hear and can be reached at rebekahulmer@mac.com
