Another week another planner.

I don't know how to write intros for this column anymore.  I post local family friendly events, and you go to them (maybe?).  I guess the goal is to make things easier on parents.  I am not a parent, but I imagine it's a tough job.  I am willing to do just about anything to make that job easier.

Why Go: Chester County Book & Music Company hosts Storytime for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday at 10:30 am. No registration is necessary!

(Really a symphony concert?  Do you even have kids?  No, no I don't.  Maybe they'll play the "Star Wars" theme)

Where/When: , Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, Thursday, October 6, at 8:15 p.m. (8:15 on a school night?  Come on.)

Why Go: The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Concert performs at West Chester University under the direction of Andrew Yozviak and M. Gregory Martin. The event is free and open to the public.

Pricing: Free

(Ugh, you would be a terrible parent.  Hey, when I was 10 this would have scared the poop out of me, but I would've thought it was awesome at the same time.  Just like "Aliens.")

Where/When: The , Friday, October 7, at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Learn about West Chester's ghostly past as you listen to stories of lost souls of the Underground Railroad and see where gallows once stood. The Ghost Tours of West Chester begin at The Lincoln Room each Friday and Saturday in October. Doors open at 7 p.m. for sandwiches, snacks and beverages, tours leave at 8 p.m. Dress for walking and the weather. Reservations are required.

Pricing: $10 per person

 (There's a "Kids Korral" sponsored by the YMCA.  I'm trying.)

Where/When: Downtown West Chester, Sunday, October 9, from 12-3 p.m.

Why Go: The Rotary Club of West Chester hosts its 9th Annual Chili Cookoff on Gay Street in West Chester. Hometown cooks, restaurants and businesses all try their hand at chili in a competition - sample their creations and cast your vote for West Chester's best chili! Bring the kids to the YMCA Kids Korral and check out other food vendors. Get your all-you-can-eat-chili wristbands online or at the Chamber Office.

Pricing: 3 for $25; After October 7, $10 each. Children under 10 free with paid adult.
