Some family friendly things to do this week when an emphasis on indoor and cool.

The dog days of summer are here, and boy is it hot.  Here is the weekly Patch list of things to do as a family with an emphasis on ways to beat the heat.  I can't make any promises though.

Why Go: Chester County Book & Music Company hosts Storytime for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday at 10:30 am. No registration is necessary!

Where/When: , Thursday, July 21, from 10:30-11 a.m.

Why Go: The West Chester Public Library hosts a Drop-In Storytime each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 3 years old and up will listen to stories, sing songs and work on take-home sheets. No registration is required.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: , Saturday, July 23, from 6-8 p.m.

Why Go: The West Chester Railroad partners with the Pig Out BBQ Pit for a special train ride with BBQ dinner. Depart the Market Street Station and arrive at the Glen Mills picnic grove where you will enjoy Pulled Pork BBQ, Baby Back Ribs, Homemade sides, Pulled chicken BBQ and Corn Dogs along the Chester Creek. Tickets must be ordered from the Pig Out BBQ Pit via phone at (610)361-8200.

Pricing: Adults - $20.00; Children - $15.00

Where/When: , Sunday, July 24, at 12 p.m.

Why Go: Ride the West Chester Railroad to their Glen Mills station for a picnic lunch! Pack your basket and enjoy the afternoon with your family and friends in the Glen Mills Picnic Grove.

Pricing: Adult Fare: $12.50 Children: $10.50 (Ages 2-12 yrs) Toddlers ride free!
