Another Flood Warning Issued

Flooding continues through much of the region.

The National Weather Service has issued another flood warning for West Chester in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, this rain received somewhere between six and nine inches of rain since hurricane Irene made its way up the coast and into Pennsylvania Saturday evening.

Ran runoff has filled local streams, creeks and rivers well above their flood crests, with some rivers almost doubling that amount.

The National Weather Service warns drivers to not try to drive through flooded areas where water covers the roadway.

Flood waters are often deeper than they appear, and a foot of flood water is strong enough to sweep away a vehicle.

Heavy winds are also expected to continue through the afternoon and early evening with sustained winds in the 25 mile per hour range.

The winds will begin to dissipate starting around 9 p.m. and gradually decline early Monday morning.

Monday is forecasted to be sunny with a high of 79 degrees.
