Bites Nearby: Capriotti's, Subs Done Right

Capriotti's makes a good sandwich for a reasonable price.

may be a chain, but the feel and taste is hometown all the way.

Founded in 1976 in Wilmington, Delaware, the original Capriotti’s was known for its turkey, but since then Capriotti’s has become know for all kinds of sandwiches including many specialties.

Their most well known sub is the “Bobbie.”  A variation on the classic turkey sub, the Bobbie puts everything that’s great about Thanksgiving dinner on a roll.  The sandwich comes with Capriotti’s signature turkey along with cranberry sauce, stuffing and mayo.

My personal favorite is the Italian.  Loaded with everything you’d expect on an Italian sub, Capriotti’s doesn’t skimp on meat or cheese, and you never feel like there’s too much bread.

Capriotti’s is also one of the few places around where you can get a pastrami sandwhich.  Their “Capastrami” comes hot with pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and cole slaw.

The only downside to the West Chester Capriotti’s is that it’s take-out only.  There’s nowhere inside to sit and eat.  However, this is small potatoes compared to the quality of their subs.

Their subs could also be considered a bit pricey.  While I don’t mind paying $8.50 for a medium sandwich, I imagine it could be a lot to ask for penny-pinchers looking for a quick and easy meal.

Regardless of the price, Capriotti’s is always worth it.  They make a great sandwich for a decent price in a friendly atmosphere.  I always leave with a full belly and a smile.
