The following is a press release from the Chester County Historical Society.
The Chester County Historical Society is pleased to announce the 31st Annual Chester County Antique Show, which will be held from April 5-7, 2013 at the Phelps School, a new location for the Show. The Phelps School in Malvern is a unique facility which features accessibility, spaciousness, and natural light that will create the perfect setting for the dealers and all of their fine quality offerings.
The event, sponsored once again by PECO, will feature more than 50 exceptional dealers from throughout the country. The theme of this year’s event is "Architectural Elements in Furniture." The show attracts over 2,000 visitors and collectors every year.
“We thank PECO for their continued support as the Presenting Corporate Sponsor, helping to make this event one of the premier antiques shows in our region. PECO has been, for the seventh consecutive year, our Antiques Show presenting sponsor and a generous supporter for our educational efforts. Their dedication to this event and the Historical Society has had a direct impact in enriching our community, and we look forward to a continued partnership for many years to come,” said Robert Lukens, PhD, President of the Chester County Historical Society.
“CCHS is very fortunate to have Sarah and Allen Burke as the chairs of our 2013 Antiques Show. As long-time members and the chairs of our 2007 show, they bring a wealth of creativity and experience to developing, planning, and implementing the show - our biggest fundraiser and community event," continued Lukens.
“The 2013 Chester County Antiques Show promises to be one of the best in its thirty-one-year history. There is great excitement about our move to the Phelps School, which has a very convenient location,” commented Allen Burke. Sarah Burke, his co-chair, added “we are fortunate to have wonderful dealers, dedicated volunteers and a top notch staff at CCHS, all of whom are committed to giving each visitor a great experience. We are proud to support the wonderful work the society is doing.”
Brock Jobe, Professor of American Decorative Arts at Winterthur Museum, and John Milner, Fellow of the American Institute of Architects will join us as lecturers to highlight 18th and 19th century furniture and how its design has been influenced by architecture. The Preview Party, held on Friday, April 5 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., provides an early viewing of the event’s beautiful items while enjoying fine fare and meeting the vendors, as well as the Historical Society’s Board of Trustees and other supporters. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
