Gunning and Company Estate Sales is in business to handle all of your Estate Sale, Moving Sale or Downsizing of your personal or family, contents, collectables or personal possessions. We are here assist you with all of your Liquidation needs.

Estate Liquidation:

The process of Estate liquidation whether by death, divorce or economic circumstances are often challenging and overwhelming. Our professional staff will ease the burden and stress often related to liquidating your belongings whether personal or those of a loved one. We will handle each situation with complete respect and understanding in these difficult times. If equitable distribution services are required, we are well equipped and have counsel on staff to facilitate and answer all of your questions related to your needs. 

The Anatomy of the Sale:

Upon the initial contact we discuss a convenient time to meet and discuss your current situation and goals which we will tailor our services around your individual needs through a comprehensive free consultation.

Once we meet we will formulate a clear understanding of your goals and begin to lay out a strategy. Not every situation is the same so we like to begin with the end in mind.

We will then will tour your site together gather information, discuss your personal contents and gather an inventory together with properly identifying the contents you desire to sell before any pricing is established.  Often we consult with experts in the field of furniture, fine art and collectibles to ensure we are maximizing the best return on the contents to be sold.     

Once we establish a clear understanding of your inventory we will then begin the process of pricing keeping in mind several variables, such a personal feelings on value as well as current market conditions.

We will photograph all of the items in the inventory so that we may begin the important phase of marketing and advertising the sale.

We will then execute the sales agreement and discuss the dates and times of the sale which are convenient.

Keep in mind the above portion of the process may take more than one visit, we rather be more in line with the goal than rush the steps of the process.

Once the dates and times of the Sale are established we will begin a marketing campaign through Online Resources related to Estate Sales which we subscribe, Local Newspapers and Signage. Note: your address is not made public until the day before the sale protect to your privacy and avoid any nuisances, unless you wish otherwise.

We begin the staging of the sale and once completed we have a presale meeting usually the day or evening before the sale begins.

The Sale, we conduct our sales three full days beginning on Thursdays and running through Saturday. Of course other days can be arranged to meet your needs. We will provide you with a daily recap as the sale progresses.

Cost I work on a percentage of the Total Sale with 40% being the normal rate. That rate covers the price of staff & advertising. 

Advertising & Marketing Your Sale Having been in business over 20 years I have developed a large and loyal repeat customer base. In addition to attracting my regular customers I also advertise your sale in the local papers in addition to my regular weekly listing in the News of Delaware County.  I also use internet based advertising and email notification. .

Clean Outs In some houses there is trash removal that must be addressed at the conclusion of your sale. I will work with you to contact local haulers and make sure the property is properly cleaned.

Packing & Mailing Occasionally you may need items to be packed and shipped to other locations, this is a service that is also available. I use the US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, Motor and Air Carriers.

Main Line Estates I work predominately in the western Philadelphia suburbs.  I have arranged over 500 successful estate sales, garage sales, demolition sales, and house sales in  Bala Cynwyd, Gladwynn, Penn Valley, Narberth, Lower Merion, Merion, Merion Station, Ardmore, Haverford, Havertown, Bryn Mawr, Rosemont, Villanova, Newtown Square, Radnor, Berwyn, Devon and beyond.

Delaware County Residences Many of my sales take place in average homes throughout Delaware County Pennsylvania.  You do not have to have a massive estate to benefit from my services.  I frequently sell merchandise from homes in Havertown, Drexel Hill, Media, Springfield, Edgemont, Broomall, Springfield, Swarthmore and many other Delco towns.
