Drinking While Pregnant: Would You Risk It?

Some recent research is indicating that is may not be so terrible if a pregnant woman consumes alcohol while pregnant. What do you think?

Drinking alcohol while pregnant has been pretty much taboo in recent decades. Yet, a series of 2012 studies conducted in Denmark may be indicating that a little sip of wine - or perhaps even a whole glass - during pregnancy could be OK. Howevery, the results of the studies are far from definitive and surely don't help mothers-to-be draw the line between what's safe and what's not. When I was pregnant, I didn't want to take any risks and I made sure not to even have a sip of wine. I have friends who drank a glass here or there while pregnant and their children appear to be just as happy and healthy as my own. What are your thoughts about drinking alcohol during pregnancy? Moms Talk: Children's Shops

Area moms talk about their favorite children's stores.

Today we have assembled a panel of three local moms to get the inside scoop on what to do, where to buy stuff, and where to dine with the toddler set. Joining us are Nicole Wiley, Allison Treston, and Ramsey Cotherman. Patch: Are there any children's shops or boutiques in the area that you couldn't get by without? The location in the Parkway shopping center tends to have a better selection of kids books (bonus points for Richard Scarry and Sweet Valley High) and the borough location is a great place to browse if I'm without stroller. Ramsey: As far as children's shops and boutiques go, I …

Mom Talk: Parks and Playgrounds

West Chester moms talk about their favorite local parks and playgrounds.

Today we have assembled a panel of three local moms to get the inside scoop on the best parks and paygrounds for the toddler set. Joining us are Nicole Wiley, Allison Treston, and Ramsey Cotherman. Patch: Although the weather is about to revert back to seasonal norms, we had a few really lovely days this past week. What is your favorite WC playground or park to spend a sunny day with the kids? Nicole: We're big fans of the playground at Pocopson Elementary, with its fast slides, tetherball, and "way-high" swings. There is a great kindergarten park there as well, even if my daughter eschews it, as it is apparently for "little babies". We also love the skatepark/dog park in West Whiteland- great place for people and canine watching and the …
