East falls in Shootout with Whippets
The West Chester East football squad remains winless after falling to undefeated Downingtown West, 52-30.
Looking for its first win, the West Chester East football team knew it would have its hands full heading to unbeaten Downingtown West. But, much to everyone’s amazement, it as the Vikings (0-5), not the Whippets (5-0), who turned heads Friday night. “We played our best game of the season,” East QB Jake Sheller said. “Everything was clicking. We just couldn’t get the win.” Vikings quarterback Jake Sheller threw for 405 yards – good enough for second most ever at Downingtown Athletic Complex – but it wouldn’t be enough to help raise East to its first victory of the season in a 52-30 loss. “I wasn’t paying attention to [the record], it wasn’t the first thing on my mind,” Sheller said. “It’s cool I guess but I would have rather had a [win].” …
