The Chester County Hospital and Health System (TCCHHS) announced today the signing of a non-binding Letter of Intent to join the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). In August 2012, The Chester County Hospital and Health System announced its intention to seek a strategic corporate partner for its West Chester, PA-based system. The confidential Letter of Intent provides for a period of due diligence during which time UPHS will review additional information regarding TCCHHS. U.S. News and World Report Ranked the Chester County Hospital the 17th best hospital in the Philadelphia region.
U.S. World News and Report ranked the Chester County Hospital the 17th best hospital in the Philadelphia region in a recent poll. According to U.S. World News and Report, the Chester County Hospital got high marks "in patient safety, demonstrating commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes." U.S. World News and Report also ranked the hospital as high-performing in the field of Nephrology (kidneys). Chester County Hospital received an “A” rating in a recent hospital safety score released by the Leapfrog Group. According to a release on the group’s website, the safety score is meant to “represent the very basic blocks of medical care,” and includes measurements for hand washing, computerized medication control and nurse staffing levels. “A hospital may have the best surgeons and greatest technology in the world, but unless it is preventing infections and eliminating medical and medication errors and injuries, it is not delivering on … the premise of ensuring the safety of you and your loved ones,” states a release on the group’s website. The Chester County Hospital and Health System has announced plans to construct a new, three-floor patient care tower that will accommodate 72 private patient rooms and a state-of-the-art linear accelerator to enhance cancer treatment at the Hospital. "At the core of the project is the need for more beds and specifically for private rooms," says Michael J. Duncan, President and CEO of The Chester County Hospital and Health System. "The plan we created addresses that primary need. In fact, the building plans - referred to internally as the Tower Project - are designed to accommodate 72 private patient rooms in total or 24 rooms each on three new levels." Associates of WSFS Bank are volunteering their time to assemble SHINE Patient Padfolios for people living with cancer in Chester County. "It is a journal, Rolodex, calendar and filing system all rolled into one attractive portfolio. It keeps all the information a patient needs in one place and makes the logistics of care simpler," says Paige Willover, Vice President of Retail Office Manager at the WSFS West Chester office. The Chester County Hospital laid-off 45 employees Monday.
According to the Daily Local, the Chester County Hospital confirmed Monday that 45 full time employees were laid-off last week. “In response to downward pressure on health-care revenues across the industry, the Chester County Hospital came to the painful conclusion that a reduction in our work force would be required to respond to this trend,” hospital spokeswoman Coleen Leonard Leyden told the Daily Local. The following is a press release from the Chester County Hospital. Headquarters Hair Salon owner, Sara Grudzinski, and her staff hold a raffle for charity annually. For Sara, her staff and her clients, it's a fun way to give back to the community. Businesses in the Parkway Shopping Center, and friends and clients of Headquarters donate artwork, gift certificates and products to be raffled. With donations and raffles sales, Headquarters was able to donate more than $1,000 to SHINE. SHINE is a volunteer organization dedicated to patient care. The following is a press release from the Chester County Hospital. The Rotary Club of West Chester Downtown actively promotes literacy at home and abroad. Last month, members of the Rotary Club of West Chester Downtown donated 1,000 children's books by author Bruce Larkin to The Chester County Hospital's Emergency Department and Prenatal Clinic. The books are for pre-kindergarten to the second grade reading level, and include titles in both English and Spanish. The Chester County Hospital was delighted to receive this donation. Over the holidays, the children’s rooms at the Chester County Hospital were given an unusual donation: decorative pillow cases. The entire staff of a Malvern-based company, Hoover Financial Advisors PC (HFA), helped to create the pillow covers, in part to bring smiles to children at Chester County Hospital’s (CCH) Inpatient Pediatrics department. Peter K. Hoover, the company’s president and founder, shown in the picture posted here, led a team that designed and completed 40 beautifully whimsical pillow cases for kids.
