Prosecutors say Robert Landis' blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit.
Robert Elwood Landis, 49, has been ordered to stand trial for second degree homicide, manslaughter, DUI and multiple other charges related to a two vehicle accident that prosecutors say claimed the life of Liam Crowley of Chesterbrook, Tredyffrin Township. Crowley, who was 24, died two days after his motorcycle slammed into a pick-up truck in the northbound lanes of Wilmington Pike/Route 202 and East Stanton Road in Westtown Township. Prosecutors said Landis, of West Chester, was drunk and driving on a suspended and expired license, when he turned left to cross northbound 202 from the southbound lanes onto Stanton Avenue. Police say the driver may have suffered a medical event before the impact.
A 56-year-old Delaware man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after a serious multi-car accident on 202 in Westtown Township, Westtown-East Goshen Police are reporting. According to the department, at 12:26 p.m. police spotted a motor vehicle accident while on patrol in the 1100 block of Wilmington Pike. A Ford Edge traveling northbound collided with two other vehicles before the entrance to Westtown Village Shopping Center. After striking the two vehicles, police say the Ford traveled over a curb and collided with a large tree, parking lot light pole, and four parked and unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot of the Westtown Branch of TD Bank. Police say unlocked cars were broken into in East Goshen, Westtown and Thornbury townships in the past week.
The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department urges residents to remove valuables from cars and to make sure doors are locked after 28 unlocked cars were stolen from in the past week. Police say 17 cars were burglarized in the early monring hours of Monday, Feb. 4, and that another 11 cars were hit on Feb. 11 According to police loose change, electronic chargers, an iPod and DVDs were stolen from cars that had unlocked doors in residential communities near Greenhill Road in East Goshen. Police say that one home on Allan Lane was also stolen from when a garage door was left open overnight. Two bicycles were stolen from the residence. Police respond to a home in Westtown Township after a false report of a home invasion was made to emergency services after an online feud escalated.
A Westtown resident along with the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department fell victim to an online prank after a feud developed while one of the residents played the X-Box game “Call of Duty.” According to police, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services received a report of a home invasion in the 600 block of John Anthony Drive at 12:12 a.m. on Wednesday. An individual used AT&T Relay Services to report that four armed intruders were inside a particular residence with hostages. The reporting party identified himself as the 13-year-old son of the homeowner who was hiding in a closet and reporting the incident as it unfolded. The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department arrest a suspect after a robbery took place in the Wawa parking lot on Paoli Pike.
On Dec. 27, at 7:56 p.m. the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to the parking lot of the Wawa located in the 1500 block of Paoli Pike for a reported robbery. The adult male victim reported to police that as he exited the Wawa Store, and he was approached by a male who asked for directions. As the victim provided the male with directions, the male announced that he had a gun and would shoot the victim unless the victim turned over his wallet and cell phone. The victim complied and provided his wallet and cell phone to the man who entered the passenger area of a silver car that drove around the back of the Wawa and left the area. A committee has been assembled to search for a new chief for the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department.
The Daily Local reports that the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department will begin its search for a new police chief on Friday. According to the Daily Local: The search will be led by Greg Cary, a former Caln police officer who also led the search resulting in the hire of Pennsylvania State Police Maj. John Laufer in Coatesville. Laufer was officially hired Monday when city council unanimously approved his appointment to the position. The following is a press release from the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department On Dec. 8, 2012, a resident from the 1600 block of East Strasburg Road in East Goshen reported that an Apple iPad valued at $429.00 dollars was stolen from the residence. The victim provided police with names of individuals that had access to the residence and area where the Apple iPad was stolen from on Dec. 7. Through the investigation it was determined that two named guests appeared at the West Goshen Game Stop Store and sold the stolen iPad for $279.00 dollars on Dec. 7. A Westtown woman is in stable condition after receiving an apparent accidental gunshot wound to the face.
A Westtown woman is listed in stable condition after she received a gunshot wound to the face Tuesday night. According to the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department, officers responded to the 800 block of General Howe Drive at 10:39 p.m. after a resident of the home heard a gunshot and his father screaming. According to police, the 47-year-old male homeowner reported that he was placing his pistol underneath his pillow when the gun accidently discharged. The 47-year-old reported that the bullet struck his ex-wife in the face. After hearing the gunshot, the 22-year-old son of the homeowner entered his parent’s room to find that his mother had been shot and his father was trying to stop the bleeding. This location is at 1393 Dilworthtown Crossing. Police arrested Derrick Andre Harris, age 19, from Cheyney, PA and charged him with alleged retail theft and also alleged possession of liquor, or malt or brewed beverage.
