Police say a man fell asleep in a Wawa parking lot before he hit a police car.
Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police: On Feb. 16, West Goshen Police arrested and charged a man with fleeing and eluding police as well as with a DUI after police say he struck a marked police car and failed to stop. According to police, officers tried to wake the man as he slept in his car in the Wawa parking lot located at 1195 Pottstown Pike. The man woke up, police say, and then backed into a police car. According to police, the man drove off, failing to stop. Police eventually stopped the man at the intersection of Grove Road and Pennsylvania Avenue. DUI: On Jan. 23, at approximately 9:58 p.m., West Goshen police arrested a 21-year-old from Malvern for a DUI and related charges after a vehicle stop in the 900 block of Paoli Pike. DUI: On Jan. 26, at approximately 10:26 p.m., West Goshen police stopped a vehicle on Pottstown Pike at Taylor’s Mill Road for several vehicle code violations. The driver of the vehicle was suspected of drinking alcohol and was issued several field sobriety tests that he failed. The driver, 25, from Coatesville, was placed into custody and transported to the Chester County Hospital. Drug Possession: On Jan. 26, at approximately 11:35 p.m., West Goshen police were dispatched to a restaurant located in 1000 block of West Chester Pike for a suspicious condition. It was reported that a female was in the store with her face painted white. The female was putting candles on tables and lighting them. The female also removed the fire extinguisher and put it next to a table. Managers requested that the female leave the store. She was with a male friend, and they fled. The female left behind her bag that contained the male’s driver’s license, and books with her name on them. Also located in the bag was a small amount of marijuana, smoking devices and a grinder. A passenger was ejected from his seat and pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle struck a poll.
On Jan. 1, at approximately 5:02 a.m., West Goshen Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving one vehicle into a pole on Route 202 southbound in the area of Route 100. Upon officer’s arrival, they located a vehicle in the grass area off to the west side of the roadway. Officers located three occupants, one of which had been ejected during the crash. The ejected occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still investigating the incident.

Theft: On Nov. 5, the West Goshen Police Department received a report of theft in which the victim is an elderly female who requires in-home car and the suspect was the victim’s caretaker. An investigation revealed that the caretaker, Michelle Murrey, 28, allegedly was stealing blank check from the victim, writing the checks herself and then cashing the checks. Murrey allegedly began these thefts in December 2012 and continued into November. The total amount stolen allegedly approached $3,000. On Dec. 19, Murrey was arrested and charged with the crimes. West Goshen resident Jonathan Lee Riches traveled to Newtown, Conn., to try to visit the home of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza.
According to the Daily Local, West Goshen resident Jonathan Lee Riches is being held by authorities after violating his parole when he tried to visit the home of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza. According to the Daily Local: Jonathan Lee Riches, 35, of West Goshen, spent the last decade in federal prison for wire fraud and related offenses. He returned home earlier this year on supervised release and re-entered the local probation system to address violations predating his federal incarceration, according to officials familiar with his case. Drug Possession: On Dec. 11, at approximately 11:20 p.m. West Goshen police assisted a subject with unlocking his vehicle in the Wendy’s parking lot located at 700 East Gay Street. After an investigation police discovered that the subject had an active warrant for his arrest. While detaining the subject police also found him to be in possession of a controlled substance. West Goshen police search for 17-year-old Coral MacNamee who was last seen on Tuesday.
According to the Daily Local, West Goshen Police are searching for the whereabouts of 17-year-old Coral MacNamee who was last seen on Tuesday. The Daily Local reports that MacNamee was last seen Tuesday as she was leaving her school. According to the Daily Local: Her parents said they briefly spoke with her on the phone Thursday night, and police believe she is still in the West Chester area. DUI: On Dec. 9, at approximately 12:08 a.m., West Goshen Police responded to an accident involving one vehicle and a guardrail on southbound Route 202 north of South Matlack Street. Further investigation revealed that the 26-year-old operator of the vehicle was allegedly under the influence of alcohol to the extent that rendered her incapable of operating a motor vehicle. A 21-year-old West Chester University student was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 600 block of South Bolmar Street Monday.
West Goshen police report that a 21-year-old West Chester University student and Nazareth resident named Joseph Pietroforte was struck and killed by a car at approximately 5:18 p.m. on Monday. Officials pronounced Pietroforte dead at the scene, and the crash is currently under investigation. According to police the incident occurred in the 600 block of South Bolmar Street when Pietroforte was struck by vehicle allegedly being driven by 80-year-old Glen Mills resident William Eckel. Eckel was not injured in the incident and has been cooperative with police. The incident is currently being investigated.
