Eight West Chester Schools will close early tomorrow due to excessive heat and humidity.
Eight of the West Chester elementary schools will dismiss early on Wednesday and Thursday due to the excessive heat and humidity that is expected to roll into the area tomorrow. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the West Chester area in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Forecasters predict that temperatures could reach the upper 90s both days. The district chose to close the schools early because they are not equipped with air conditioning. Dismissal will be at noon on both days. The list of schools that are closing: Because the schools are closing early there will be no lunches and no P.M. Kindergarten. All after school activities at these schools are cancelled as well.

After overnight snows, most area schools are operating under a two-hour delay. Heavy snow began to fall around 10 p.m. Monday night and continued through the early morning hours. According to forecasts, the snow is supposed to taper off by mid-morning as temperatures rise above freezing in the afternoon. After a storm moved into the region Wednesday evening and left behind large amounts of snow. Most schools in the region are operating on a two-hour delay.
