6 Cited for Underage Drinking Among Week's Arrests

In the past week, West Chester Police made 23 arrests of people aged 18 to 25.

The West Chester Police Department made 23 arrests of individuals aged 18 to 25 from Feb. 18 to Feb. 24, according to Chief Scott Bohn. The arrests are reported as part of the borough's ongoing "Operation Vigilance" program.   These arrests break down by the following offenses:

Man Desecrating Graves of Police Officers, Cops Say

A 23-year-old man faces charges after police find him with a Taser.

The following incident reports were provided by the West Chester Police Department. An arrest does not suggest conviction. DUI on Rt. 842 On February 15 at 8:41 p.m., West Chester Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Rt. 842 and N. Creek Road in East Bradford Township. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Maryland man was charged with DUI and related traffic offenses. Man with Taser On February 16 at 1:37 a.m., West Chester Police responded to 20 S. High Street for a report of a man with a Taser. Upon officer’s arrival, a 23-year-old Collegeville man was found with a Taser in his possession. Man Wakes Up and Crashes into Patrol Car, Police Say

Police say a man fell asleep in a Wawa parking lot before he hit a police car.

Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police: On Feb. 16, West Goshen Police arrested and charged a man with fleeing and eluding police as well as with a DUI after police say he struck a marked police car and failed to stop. According to police, officers tried to wake the man as he slept in his car in the Wawa parking lot located at 1195 Pottstown Pike. The man woke up, police say, and then backed into a police car.  According to police, the man drove off, failing to stop. Police eventually stopped the man at the intersection of Grove Road and Pennsylvania Avenue. Fried Chicken Stolen from Giant, Police Say

A 58-year-old man was arrested after police say he stole chicken from Giant.

Theft: On Feb. 9, at approximately 3:59 p.m., a West Chester police officer was dispatched to the Giant supermarket located at 698 Downingtown Pike in East Bradford Township for a report of a retail theft.  Upon arrival, the officer was met by a loss prevention specialist who reported that he had observed a subject leave the store without paying for multiple items from the “hot bar.”  The 58-year-old subject was found in possession of two bags of fried chicken and a bag containing two muffins.  The total value of the taken items was $11.91.

Two Charged with DUIs on Miner Street, Police Say

Police say one man drove off the road while driving on a suspended license.

The following information was supplied by the West Chester police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. DUI: On Feb. 1, at approximately 3:53 a.m., West Chester police arrested a Coatesville resident in the 800 block of West Miner Street for an alleged DUI and driving while operator’s license is under suspension.  According to police, the man drove off the roadway and police say that he failed field sobriety tests. Arrests Down 35 Percent, Police Chief Says

West Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn says arrests are down 35 percent compared to the same time period last year.

According to West Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn arrests in the borough have fallen 35 percent for 2013 when compared to the same time period in 2012. From the beginning of 2012 to February, the West Chester Police Department 170 people were arrested and charged with 190 offenses. In the same time period in 2013, 109 people have been arrested and charged with 128 offenses. From Feb. 4-10 the West Chester police department made 23 arrests of persons ages 18-25.  Those arrests break down by the following offenses: Underage Drinking 7 Public Drunkenness 5 Open Container 2 Harassment 3 Public Indecency 1 DUI 3 Disorderly Conduct 2 Littering 2 Drug Offenses 1 Theft 1 Furnishing Alcohol 1

Employee Steals from Employer

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

DUI: On Jan. 23, at approximately 9:58 p.m., West Goshen police arrested a 21-year-old from Malvern for a DUI and related charges after a vehicle stop in the 900 block of Paoli Pike. DUI: On Jan. 26, at approximately 10:26 p.m., West Goshen police stopped a vehicle on Pottstown Pike at Taylor’s Mill Road for several vehicle code violations. The driver of the vehicle was suspected of drinking alcohol and was issued several field sobriety tests that he failed.  The driver, 25, from Coatesville, was placed into custody and transported to the Chester County Hospital. Woman in Face Makeup Arrested for Drugs

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Drug Possession: On Jan. 26, at approximately 11:35 p.m., West Goshen police were dispatched to a restaurant located in 1000 block of West Chester Pike for a suspicious condition.  It was reported that a female was in the store with her face painted white.  The female was putting candles on tables and lighting them.  The female also removed the fire extinguisher and put it next to a table.  Managers requested that the female leave the store.  She was with a male friend, and they fled.  The female left behind her bag that contained the male’s driver’s license, and books with her name on them.  Also located in the bag was a small amount of marijuana, smoking devices and a grinder.  The female was later located and admitted the marijuana and …
