West Chester Borough Council to Vote on Adding More Parking Meters
Borough Council is considering a measure that would add 108 new parking meters to the borough.
West Chester Council will vote on Wednesday whether or not to add 108 brand new parking meters in an effort to increase revenue in the borough. The plan originated during last year's budget discussion, but it was floored in favor of a 20 percent property tax increase to cover the borough's deficit. "When we raised taxes we promised we would revisit some of these programs during the year," said council member Jim Jones. This is just the first proposal so far to increase borough revenues. "This is one attempt to start bringing down blossoming costs for the borough," said council member Susan Bayne. "This may help alleviate that 20 percent tax hike."
