Man Slumped Over Wheel at Wawa Gets DUI, Police Say

West Goshen Police found the defendant in the store's parking lot at 3:41 a.m.

A 32-year-old West Chester man was charged with DUI in April after West Goshen Police say they found him slumped over the wheel of his car in a Wawa parking lot. On April 12 at 3:41 a.m., police were on patrol in the area of the Wawa convenience store located at 1195 Pottstown Pike, when they saw the defendant leaning over the steering wheel of his car. The man smelled like alcohol and consented to and failed a series of field sobriety tests, police say. He was charged with DUI and taken to Chester County Hospital to have blood drawn for testing.

Wawa: Milk Batch Not Up to Standards

The company posted an in-store notice said it would issue a refund for certain milk products.

If you purchased Wawa milk recently and noticed a strange taste, you might be entitled to a refund. The company posted an in-store notice on March 7, alerting customers that Vitamin D Whole Milk with code dates between 3/7/13 and 3/20/13 did not meet its standard of quality.  Here is the full text of the notice:

One in Custody After East Goshen Wawa Robbery

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department arrest a suspect after a robbery took place in the Wawa parking lot on Paoli Pike.

On Dec. 27, at 7:56 p.m. the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to the parking lot of the Wawa located in the 1500 block of Paoli Pike for a reported robbery. The adult male victim reported to police that as he exited the Wawa Store, and he was approached by a male who asked for directions.  As the victim provided the male with directions, the male announced that he had a gun and would shoot the victim unless the victim turned over his wallet and cell phone. The victim complied and provided his wallet and cell phone to the man who entered the passenger area of a silver car that drove around the back of the Wawa and left the area. Salmonella Risk Prompts Wawa Fruit Cup Recall

Taylor Farms New Jersey products are being pulled from some area stores.

Certain fruit cups and parfaits, possibly tainted by salmonella, have been recalled from 135 Wawa stores, the convenience store chain announced Thursday. The nine products from Taylor Farms New Jersey all include Daniella Brand mangoes or foods that might have been processed alongside those mangoes, according to the recall announcement. The company also announced, "We want to stress that the product has been recalled voluntarily as a precaution. There have been no reported illnesses to date in relation to the products referenced in the Taylor Farms New Jersey recall." The same mangoes prompted a Giant Food Stores recall earlier this week. Wawa to Reopen Thursday

The Wawa on East Market Street will reopen Thursday, July 26 at 8 a.m.

According to the Daily Local, the Wawa located on East Market Street will reopen on Thursday, July 26 at 8 a.m.  The Daily Local reports that the Wawa has been closed for two weeks undergoing an "extreme" makeover. According to the Daily Local: The revamped store features Wawa’s new kitchen area where fresh hoagie rolls will be baked daily, a full-service specialty beverage area where (via touch screens) customers can order 20 hand-made varieties of hot beverages, espressos, Chai teas and lattes, plus dedicated check-out lanes. Romney's Visit Made Wawa a Winner

Political pundits say Wawa benefited from publicity over Mitt Romney's controversial campaign stop.

Wawa Voted Best Hoagie

In what was really a run-away, Wawa earned 47 percent of the vote.

On Monday we asked West Chester readers to vote for their favorite hoagie.  The results are, and Wawa has been named the champion. Wawa ran away with the vote, earning 47 percent of the votes.  Capriotti's came in second with 25 percent, and Carlino's came in very distant third with 10 percent. Though Wawa dominated the poll, it earned no love in the comments section. Commentor Sandy Zeiset wrote: Wawa?? Really??? That IS a travesty! At least no one's choosing Subway!
