WCU to Battle Welsh National Team

The WCU women's lacrosse team will play the Welsh national team on Wednesday.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department. West Chester University's nationally ranked women's lacrosse squad will host the Wales National Team on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Vonnie Gros Field in an exhibition match. West Chester is one of nine university opponents that the Welsh national team will compete against during its U.S. tour this week. Wales arrived in the United States last Friday and has already scrimmaged Salisbury and Towson. The Welsh play Delaware on Monday and Princeton on Tuesday. Wednesday's game with the Golden Rams is Wales' fifth scrimmage on the tour and first of two scheduled for Wednesday. The Welsh will scrimmage Penn Wednesday night at 6 p.m. They finish up their …

No. 9 West Chester Knocks Off No. 1 LeMoyne, 15-12

The Golden Rams' lacrosse team knocks off the number one team in the nation.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department. Tori Dugan scored four goals, including two of the last three, as ninth-ranked West Chester University upset top-ranked and previously undefeated LeMoyne, 15-12, on an unseasonably hot and humid Monday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.   With temperatures resembling those usually endured during the national semifinals in mid May, Monday’s non-league women’s lacrosse match had that championship atmosphere to it in more ways than one. Dowingtown West beats Rustin, clinches title

Downingtown West pounded West Chester Rustin 12-1 Tuesday in West Chester and with the win captured the Ches-Mont league crown.

Another game, another win, another Ches-Mont league title for Downingtown West boys lacrosse. Brad Schenberger and Teddy Ugano scored two goals each for Downington West and The Whippets (9-0) clinched the Ches-Mont league crown Tuesday with a 12-1 win over West Chester Rustin (1-9) in West Chester. “Kids are doing a great job, they worked really hard,” Whippet coach Tom Hannum said. “Hats off to these fine young men who work really hard and have a great attitude. It’s the start of the post season, the next season.” Last year, Downingtown West shared the Ches-Mont crown.
