FBI Impersonators Scam Westtown Family
Westtown-East Goshen Police say the family purchased debit cards and provided the account details to the crooks.
A Westtown Township family was the victim of a recent telephone scam carried out by two men posing as members of the FBI, according to Westtown-East Goshen Police. On Thursday, a resident of Westtown Township told police that between March 26 and March 27 his family received telephone calls from two men who identified themselves as representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Police say the men told the eventual victims that they had not paid enough income tax to the Internal Revenue Service. The first caller threatened arrest if the man did not make a payment immediately. The victim and his wife were directed to go and purchase Green Dot Pre-paid debit cards, police say.
