A utility pole at East Union and Franklin streets was damaged.
West Goshen Police arrested a 22-year-old West Chester man last month after, the department says, he struck a telephone pole at East Union and Franklin Street. According to police, at 3 a.m. March 30, the driver was pulled over after he was seen driving on South Matlack Street near East Rosedale Avenue without headlights and with serious damage to the front end of his car. Police say they determined the driver had sustained the damage to his car by crashing into a telephone pole in the borough, and that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The defendant was arrested and charged with DUI and causing an accident involving damage to an unattended property.

While the driver was able to climb out of the car, the investigating officer detected evidence of intoxication and issued field sobriety tests. A drunken Berwyn man caused several car accidents on Wednesday, Westtown-East Goshen police are reporting.
A 31-year-old Berwyn man was arrested on Wednesday after Westtown-East Goshen Police say he was involved in a pair of hit-and-run incidents in West Goshen Township. On Wednesday at 1:06 p.m., Westtown-East Goshen Police responded to the area of Paoli Pike in East Goshen Township after they received a tip that a black Nissan X-Terra that was wanted for a hit and run accident in West Goshen Township was in the area. The accident occurred on Paoli Pike at Ellis Lane. While searching for the X-Terra, at 1:11 pm., police say they received a report of a separate accident on North Chester Road near Highland Avenue in East Goshen Township. The driver flipped his Nissan after crashing into a parked car this month.
A 40-year-old Coatesville man was arrested earlier this month after West Chester Police say he crashed his Nissan Altima into a parked car while intoxicated. On March 14 at 8:13 p.m., West Chester Police responded to the 600 block of North Church Street for a report of a car crash, police say. At the scene, officers found a Nissan Altima overturned on its roof. The Nissan had struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle, police say. Both cars sustained heavy damage from the impact. Police say the driver of the Altima smelled like alcohol and had glassy, bloodshot eyes. The defendant took and failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of DUI, careless driving, and texting while driving.

DUI: On Jan. 19, at approximately 1:40 a.m., West Chester police observed a mini-van weaving across the double yellow centerline in the 500 block of South High Street. The vehicle crossed the centerline at one point, forcing an oncoming vehicle to adjust their path to avoid striking the mini-van. A traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block of South High Street where a 32-year-old Wilmington, Ohio, refused to submit to a field sobriety test. DUI: On Jan. 20, at approximately 1:05 a.m., a West Chester resident was stopped and arrested for DUI and related offenses after failing field sobriety tests.
