The first annual event will benefit the Chester County SPCA.
Doc Magrogan's Oyster House will put a tasty spin on fundraising this weekend with its first annual Craft Beer & Oysterfest. Proceeds from the event, which costs $40, go to the Chester County SPCA. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at its West Chester location, Docs will have on offer a robust craft beer list that includes Goose Island Summer Love, Victory Saison, Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat, Shock Top Raspberry, Yard’s Philadelphia Pale Ale, and Blue Point Toasted Lager. The owner of Gussie claims the dog from the SPCA.
A dog found on North Chester Road has been claimed from the Chester County SPCA according to a blog by Chester County Ramblings. The dog, named Gussie, belongs to an East Goshen resident who will pick up the dog Tuesday. According to the blog, "the owner, adopted "Gussie" many years ago from the Delaware County SPCA, and the chip in her is not the current owners. A dog was found wandering North Chester Road.
A dog was found on Monday wandering on North Chester Road. According to the person that found it the dog was dirty, but did not appear to be out for that long. The dog was taken to the Chester County SPCA where a microchip was found. However, the microchip was linked to a disconnected phone number in New York. If you recognize the dog or know someone who recently moved to the area from New York please contact the Chester County SPCA at 610-692-6113 or the East Goshen Police at 610-692-5100. The Chester County SPCA will hold a special event next week for the adoption of cats.
The Chester County SPCA is full of cats, and they need your help. Next weekend the SPCA will hold a "Catapalooza" that will encourage potential pet owners to come down and adopt a cat. All adult cat adoptions will be $20, and if you adopt a kitten you can also adopt mom for another $10. You can also adopt two litter-mate kittens and get the second one for $15. The "Catapalooza" will also include face painting, kitty crafts and free consultations with the SPCA's cat experts. The event will run on Saturday, June 23 from 12-6 p.m. and Sunday, June 24 from 12-3 p.m.

The Chester County SPCA celebrates its renovated facility.
The Chester County SPCA held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its facility near West Chester Thursday to celebrate the completion of a multi-million dollar, three-year renovation. “This was a group effort,” said Chester County SPCA board president Conrad Muhly. “Before the renovation this place reminded me of a prison. Three years later there’s a huge difference. I think we’ve raised the bar for what a shelter can be in the 21st Century.” Elected officials across the county attended the ceremony including, U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach and State Sen. On Thursday, April 12th at 2:00 pm, The Chester County SPCA will have a ceremonial ribbon cutting at its newly renovated facility at 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA, 19380. This 1.6 million dollar renovation is the most extensive in fifty years. It significantly improves the environment for animals waiting for new homes, as well as provides much needed additional space for these animals in need. In attendance, expressing their continued support of the CCSPCA mission to promote the welfare and humane treatment of animals and to be an advocate on their behalf, will include Senator Andy Dinniman, Congressman Jim Gerlach and several other elected government officials. Why would anyone give anything to the SPCA when they get paid tens of thousands of dollars a month to take abandoned animals from other countys that won't kill, then put them down at this SPCA when they get overcrowded. Where's the money going? Thought you were no kill?   more ›
