A free shredding and electronic recycling event at West Chester Municipal Building brings in a staggering amount.
West Chester's sixth annual free shredding and e-cycling event filled the parking lot at Borough Hall with tons of recycling. The four hour event on Saturday had cars streaming steadily through the parking lot. When it was over at 1 p.m. the shredding truck operator told Patch he had put two-and-a-half tons of paper through the on board industrial shredder. E-Cycling of Philadelphia filled nearly two huge trucks with anything with a plug. E-cycle sends the material to a plant where monitors. computers, TV's, toasters, and anything else with a plug are taken apart and sold for scrap or melted down.
