The Brandywine Center for the Performing Arts is home to The Dance Center, which is the official school of the Brandywine Ballet Company. The company includes pre-professional dancers from the ages of 11-18, along with a professional division called the Brandywine Ballet Theatre. The Dance Center, founded in 1973, offers a variety of classes for children starting at age 3, plus classes for adults. The Brandywine Center for the Performing Arts also is home to the Pilates Body Center, a fully-equipped studio with instruction for individuals and small groups. Another offering at the Center is the Village Dance Shoppe, which sells a variety of dancewear and accessories, including recital wear, shoes and tights.
