WC councilman in Boston Bombing: John Manion was in hotel room when the first bomb went off. The West Chester Borough councilman had finished the Boston Marathon, and was cleaning up at the Boston Marriot a half mile from the finish line, when he heard a "tremendous boom."

19-Year-Old Woman Shot in the Head: An East Goshen Teenager was shot in the head earlier in July, passing away as a result of the incident. She was a gradate of West Chester East High School and was planning to attend Was Carolina University.

40lbs of Drug Laced Candy Seized: The Chester County DA's office certainly made someone's Halloween a little less special when it sized over 40lbs of candy laced with THC from a West Chester University apartment earlier in the year.

Riot, Cars Flipped in West Chester: A May party got out of hand, ending in cars being turned over and several people from around West Chester being arrested on charges of Riot, Reckless Endangerment and Criminal Mischief.

School Board member Rips Teacher's Union: A tense situation came to a boil earlier in 2013 when then board member Heidi Asdett released a statement blasting the West Chester Teacher's Union for, among other things, "calling on teachers to behave in an immature fashion" and fostering a "bizarre, sheep-like culture … inside the union." The school board later distanced itself from Asdett's statements.

WCU Falls to Her Death: A 19-year-old West Chester University student fell to death at an off-campus party at Temple University in Philadelphia in May. 

Meningitis Kills WCU Student: A third-year West Chester University Student died after contracting bacterial meningitis in 2013.

Rustin Swim Coach Pleads Guilty: Former Rustin swimming coach Ken Fuller Plead guilty to having sex with one of the members of his swim team.
