Lanes Closing on I-76 Tuesday

The highway will see lanes closed between Tuesday and Friday.

The following information is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation:

Eastbound Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be reduced to one lane just east of the Route 23 Interchange in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, on Tuesday through Friday nights (Dec. 3-6) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to stabilize the rock-lined hillside, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.

Crews will work overnight to drill anchor bolts and pin wire mesh on the hillside to keep rock from falling on the expressway. This nighttime operation is part PennDOT’s $2.3 million project to enhance traveler safety along a half-mile section of I-76.

Motorists traveling east on I-76 through the construction area are advised to allow additional time because slowdowns will occur.
