The following information comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation:
Nighttime lane closures are scheduled on U.S. Route 202 in Chester County for construction related to the ongoing expansion of the highway to six lanes in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin townships.
PennDOT contractors are widening 6.5 miles of Route 202 between the Route 252/Swedesford Road Interchange in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Interchange in East Whiteland Township under two construction contracts totaling $168.7 million.
Northbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between the Route 401 and Route 29 interchanges Wednesday and Thursday (Oct. 30-31) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
In addition, a moving operation on Wednesday and Thursday nights (Oct. 30-31) will restrict travel alternately on northbound Route 202 between Route 29 and the Route 252/Swedesford Road interchanges, and on southbound Route 202 between the Route 252/Swedesford Road and Route 401 interchanges from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
Traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes also may occur within the northbound and southbound work areas on Thursday (Oct. 31) and Friday (Nov. 1) between midnight and 5 a.m.
Crews will be installing pavement reflectors and guiderail, and sealing concrete joints on Route 202’s recently widened and reconstructed northbound lanes.
Route 202’s southbound right shoulder will be closed between the Route 401 and Route 30 interchanges Monday through Friday (Oct. 28-Nov. 1) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for conduit installation.
Motorists are advised to use extra care when traveling through the construction zone and to expect slowdowns during the overnight operations. This work is weather dependent.
