West Chester Opens Gridiron Slate Thursday At Delaware

The Golden Rams start their season off against rival University of Delaware.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department.

opens its 91st season of college football on Thursday at Division I-FCS power Delaware. The game can be heard live in Chester County on WCHE 1520 AM. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Delaware Stadium.

It is the 55th and final meeting in the series between regional rivals. They have played every year since 1968, for the exception of 2001 when the terrorist strikes on New York City cancelled the game. The Blue Hens lead the all-time series 46-6-2. West Chester last win came in 1992.

Calling all the action on WCHE will be veteran play-by-play announcer Greg Fry, alongside color analyst L.J. Harrell.

The Golden Rams will open their home slate the following Saturday (Sept. 8) when they meet up with Gannon University for the first time. Kickoff for West Chester's home opener is set for 12 p.m. It is Hall of Fame Day at John A. Farrell Stadium. WCU will induct seven individuals, along with the 1969 national championship women's basketball team, in a brief halftime ceremony.
