West Chester Men Capture 15th Straight PSAC Crown

The following is a press release from the West Chester University athletic department.

Very few conferences in college athletics have see the kind of dominance that the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has witnessed over the last decade and a half in regards to its men’s swimming championships. For the 15th straight year, the PSAC men’s swimming title belongs to West Chester University.
 
The championship is a record 25th overall conference crown for the Golden Rams mens’ program, breaking a tie with Clarion for the most titles in PSAC history. West Chester accumulated 749.5 points and outdistanced its nearest competition by 277.5. Gannon was runner-up with 472 points.
 
West Chester swimmers claimed the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke and picked up a win in the 400 free relay, making it a clean sweep of the five relays at the conference championships. Junior Tommy Rhoads was named the PSAC male swimmer of the meet after the championships completed.
 
Rhoads, who won both the 200 and 500 free and placed second in the 1000, led off the 400 free relay team that finished first in 3 minutes, 3.64 seconds. He was a member of three of West Chester’s five winning relays.
 
Bogdan Grebenyuk collected his second conference crown in as many days, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.68. He was followed to the wall by teammates Mike DiMarco (2:04.84) and David McCormick (2:04.98).
 
Ryan Stahley placed third in the 100 free with a time of 46.26. Alex Muraro placed fourth in 46.85. Jake Oeschger was 11th.
 
Calvin Starosta won the 200 backstroke in 1:51.71. Phil Letcavage placed eighth in 1:57.99. Connor Murphy was 11th.
 
Jared Haley picked up his second PSAC title of the weekend with a first-place showing in the 1650 free with a time of 15:51.62. Tyler Adams was eighth (16:44.93) and Tommy McMahon was 11th.
 
Evan DeaKyne placed seventh in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.19. J.J. Rudisill placed 11th.
 
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES: West Chester brought home 35 All-PSAC honors and another 13 honorable mention certificates … Jared Haley, Tommy Rhoads and Bogdan Grebenyuk were each double PSAC champions … Ryan Stahley was a member of four of the five relay teams that won a PSAC crown.
