WCU Standout Drafted by Indians

The Cleveland Indians drafted West Chester University Golden Rams standout Joe Wendle in the sixth round of the major league draft.

The Cleveland Indians drafted Golden Rams star infielder Joe Wendle in the sixth round of the Major League Draft on Tuesday.  Wendle was the 203 overall pick in the draft.

Wendle batted .399 with 19 doubles, nine triples, 12 home runs, 59 RBI and 64 runs scored in 56 games for West Chester University, and he was also named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' All-American team.

He also also won the PSAC triple crown by leading the conference in batting average, home runs and RBI while leading the Golden Rams to the Division II national title.
