No. 5 Edinboro Ends Women's Run In PSAC Semifinals

The Golden Rams fall, 74-58

The following is a press release from the West Chester University athletic department.

Alex Lennon, Ambreelinne Ortman and Allison Hostetter each scored 10 points, but it was not enough to overcome No. 5 Edinboro, 74-58, in a PSAC women's basketball semifinal at Edinboro Friday night. The host Fighting Scots advance to the 2012 PSAC Championship Game to play Bloomsburg Saturday night at 7 p.m.

West Chester (21-7) now plays the waiting game to see if the Golden Rams season will continue in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is at 10 p.m. Sunday night. The Golden Rams are currently ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Atlantic Region poll. The top eight ranked teams earn a bid to the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament. However, three conferences (WVIAC, PSAC and CIAA) all receive an automatic bid for their conference champions.

The Fighting Scots took control of the game quickly in the first half and kept West Chester at bay the rest of the night.
