Matt Baer Named PSAC East Player Of Week

West Chester University outfielder Matt Baer was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division athlete of the week it was announced by that organization Monday afternoon.

Baer hit .533 (8-15) for the week with a 1.267 slg pct. His three-run home run in game one of a four-game series with Kutztown led to a 5-1 victory. He homered again in the final game of the series, leading West Chester to a win. His third home run of the week came against Wilmington (Del.) in the Bill Giles Invitational championship game played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. In all, Baer was 6-for-11 with 6 RBI in four games against Kutztown to keep the Bears two games back in the league standings.

Baer is hitting .337 (31-for-92) on the season with eight doubles and seven home runs. He has knocked in 33 runs this season as well. West Chester (29-8, 13-7 PSAC East) is in a position to lock up the regular-season division title this weekend against Bloomsburg. The Golden Rams are trying to make it back to the postseason after missing out on the playoffs a year ago.
