Joe Wendle Named PSAC East Player Of The Week

Wendle is named the Eastern Division player of the week for the third week in a row.

West Chester University senior second baseman Joe Wendle was named the PSAC Eastern Division athlete of the week for the third time this spring it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Wendle hit .444 (4-for-9) in a four-game series against rival Bloomsburg that helped the Golden Rams (32-9) clinch the PSAC Eastern Division title for the third time in the last four years. Wendle also authored a 1.444 slugging percentage, tying a school record by hitting three home runs in the first game of the series in which West Chester won, 9-8. Wendle went 4-for-4 with 6 RBI and 4 runs scored in that first game.

The senior second baseman scored eight runs during the series and was walked five times (four times intentionally). He also stole a base. West Chester took three of the four games from Bloomsburg over the weekend.

On the year, Wendle is hitting .408 with 10 doubles, 7 triples and a team-leading 12 home runs to go along with 47 RBI. He has an astounding .831 slugging percentage and has scored 51 runs this season. The Lincoln University, Pa. native ranks among the top nine in every hitting category in West Chester's all-time record book.
