Golden Rams Win Fifth Straight With Triumph Over UMD, 6-1

West Chester baseball defeats University Minnesota-Duluth, 6-1.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department.

Jack Provine went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Mike Raimo was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and a RBI to lead West Chester to a 6-1 win over Minnesota-Duluth in game one of a scheduled doubleheader at Lake Myrtle Park Sunday morning.
 
West Chester (5-0) and UMD (2-5) had game two suspended in the top of the ninth inning with the Bulldogs clinging to a 5-4 lead with a runner on third and two outs in the inning.
 
A three-run fourth inning broke open a 2-0 ballgame and put the Golden Rams in control, 5-0. Raimo hit a RBI single, and Provine hit a two-run single to highlight the frame.
 
Matt Kirchner was 2-for-2 with a RBI and run scored.
 
Conor Kerins (1-0) pitched five innings and allowed one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out three. Matt McAllister made his first college appearance in relief. He went the rest of the way, yielding one hit and striking out three without walking a batter.
 
West Chester takes on Indianapolis in a doubleheader on Monday. The Golden Rams will continue their suspended game with UMD on Wednesday at 8 a.m., prior to WCU’s contest against Slippery Rock.
