Daily Local Report: West Chester East Files Protest Against Downingtown East

West Chester East alleges that Downingtown illegally used a pitcher in their 5-4 victory to clinch the Ches-Mont National League title.

The Daily Local reports that a decision is expected later today in the protest filed by the West Chester East Vikings against the Downingtown East baseball team.

In the seventh inning of Monday's tight game, Downingtown brought in pitcher Matt Ternowchek in relief.  Ternowchek got the last three Vikings' batters out and helped the Cougars earn a 5-4 win and the Ches-Mont National League title.

According to West Chester East coach Dean Owens, Ternowchek shouldn't have been allowed to pitch.
