17 West Chester Players Named To All-Ches-Mont Hoop Teams

Blake, Nash, Powell, Hubley from Rustin make first team along with Henderson's Constable

A total of 17 players from the three West Chester high schools were named to the All-Ches-Mont basketball teams by the league coaches.


 First team National Division selections to the boys squad included West Chester Henderson's Austin Constable. Second team picks by the coaches were Warriors Chas McCormick and TJ White while honorable mention were given to Henderson's Desmond Alston and West Chester East's Eddie Anderson and Amari Taylor.


 Constable, a senior, led the 15-8 Warriors in scoring with 321 points. McCormick is a sophomore  and White a junior who will return next season to anchor the Henderson attack. Henderson was eliminated by Pennridge, 74-54, in the first round of districts.

 The American Division squads included first team honors for West Chester Rustin's Cory Blake and Anthony Nash while teammates Zach Butcher was voted to the second team and Latrell Shelton received honorable mention.


 Blake was the Golden Knights (23-5) top point producer with 475 points. The senior was joined by teammate Nash, a junior, on first team who together led Rustin to the Americam Division title, Ches-Mont League championship and to the District 1 quarterfinals where they lost to Plymouth Whitemarsh, 63-47.

 Rustin entered the PIAA AAAA state tournament as the seventh seed from District 1 and defeated Cedar Cliff, 56-38 in the first round but lost to eventual state champion Chester, 76-68 in round two.


  For the girls, West Chester Rustin placed  two starters on the American Division first team in Mariah Powell and Emily Hubley. Mikayla Doane was selected for the second team and Sam Zang was given an honorable mention.


  Powell was a driving force for the Golden Knights all season, finishing with 475 points. The senior forward Hubler, also a senior playing guard, helped drive WCR to the Ches-Mont League Final Four and the District 1 tournament where they lost to Mount St. Joe's, 67-31, in the second round.


 The National Division second team included West Chester Henderson's Emily Torrance and Jenna Cullinan and West Chester East's Nina Mazzarelli. Torrance is a sophomore and Cullinan a senior while Mazzerelli is a ninth grader.
