West Chester Walking 'Mile of Silence' for Boston Victims

On Tuesday, West Chester University is hosting the walk and candlelight vigil.

In memory of those who lost their lives in the Boston Marathon tragedy, West Chester University students and staff have organized a “Mile of Silence” walk, Phillymag.com is reporting.

The walk, according to the organizer’s Facebook page, will be held on Tuesday, April 23 and is open to anyone. At 7:30 p.m., the group will meet in front of Wayne Hall on Rosendale Avenue and walk a mile loop around the university’s north campus, ending in front of the student union building. A candlelight vigil will be held at this point.

Additionally, “Mile of Silence” T-shirts will be on sale for $10. Donations will also be accepted. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to The One Fund, a foundation created by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino in the aftermath of the bombing.
