West Chester East Principal Leaving for Top Job in Another District

Principal moving down West Chester Pike for big new job in Delaware County.

West Chester East High School Principal Rick Dunlap will not be returning to the school this fall.  He has been named the new superintendent of the Upper Darby School District in Delaware County.  He begins the new job on September 6.

West Chester Area School District Superintendent Jim Scanlon made the announcement on the WCASD Facebook page:

WC East HS principal Dr. Rick Dunlap was appointed by the Upper Darby School District board (Thursday) night as the Upper Darby superintendent of schools effective September 6, 2013. Rick has served as our principal at EHS since 2002 and is ready for the challenge of the superintendent position. I thank him for all his years of service to our students and the community and wish him well in his new endeavor.

Because of the timing of this appointment, it is unlikely that we will have a permanent replacement named prior to the start of school in September and will be appointing an Acting Principal at the August 26 board meeting.

Congratulations to Rick!
