School Board to Reorganize

The West Chester School Board will hold its annual reorganization meeting on Monday, Dec. 3.

The West Chester Area School Board will hold its annual reorganization meeting on Monday, at 7 p.m. as the board prepares to move into 2013.

The reorganization meeting allows the board to elect a new president, vice president and reassign the board’s committees if need be.

While appearing not all that important, the reorganization meeting can lead to a shift in the tone in how meetings, particularly committee meetings are run.

In committee meetings, the president can allow the meeting to act as a kind of dialogue with the public, or the president can limit comment until designated time periods.

Either way, the president ultimately has control over how the public interacts with the board.

This meeting, unlike other recent board meetings, will be held in the Spellman Administration Building located at 829 Paoli Pike, West Chester, at 7 p.m.

So, yesterday we were Monk and today we're star_enthraller? We use our own names, Star Thrower, because we have nothing to hide. Really, Heidi, you "turned down all leadership roles"? How about just being honest and admitting that your fellow board members had enough of your completely embarrassing and inappropriate antics and stripped you of all the power they could. And who could really blame them after you turned on them and threw them all under the bus? I'm just relieved that you have another VP title to throw under your name now, phew...otherwise you might not have known who you really are. You've shown your clear contempt for the board and the district, so just be happy they don't want you anymore. And thanks so much for admitting you are behind all Simon's RTK requests--now we can add $14k down the hole to your list of many "accomplishments".

From Adsett, "I get feedback from my daughter's friends quite often. (Unfortunately, nobody but me and a few board members seem to care about what the kids think after they graduate from the district.)" So you are saying that only a few board members care about the students after graduation? Which ones? Also, you failed to mention that the friend was a junior boy (how old is your child, not in high school, correct [whose friend is he?]?). Do you care more about teenage boys and contacting them? First, there was the one student who bashed the board after the board failed to understand that they had to meet certain demands and requirements for special education. Then, this other, younger boy felt the need to contact you. This is a bit awkward. Why don't you talk more with the administrators and teachers in the high schools and middle schools? Or instead you could speak to the parents of these children. Be careful, you may lose your VP title again, or it might change from VP of STS to VP of STDs. What has the board done without being prompted so show that they care about Special Education or African-American students? Have fun at Simon's party.
Cathy Binder December 08, 2012 at 01:39 PM
Heidi you did in contact a student inappropriately because you did not care for the contact of a speech a student gave in a high school class. Apparently it insulted your political motives or beliefs. Based on the district rumor mill when investigated Heidi was told the contact was inappropriate - no board member has any right to tell any student what they can or cannot say. Schools are a place for STUDENTS to express opinions freely - whether a board member agrees or not. The administration of the district strongly backed the teacher in the classroom and the student. That Heidi you know is the truth. No student should EVER be intimidated by the board, under any circumstance. If you had a concern with the content of a students speech your first contact should have been with the teacher, or in your official capacity the administration - anyone but the student. That is just common sense.
Cathy Binder December 08, 2012 at 01:42 PM
I asked several days ago for a the board to give us numbers of teachers who have asked to reduce membership to fair share contributions. Still waiting.

"district rumor mill" = WC Vote manly girl admiration society

Rustin Teacher arrested for multiple sexual abuse of student I find it very amusing that neither the star-enthralled WC Vote manly girl admiration society, nor the Binder/Fell teachers union still has not commented on the Patch article below http://westchester.patch.com/articles/rustin-swim-coach-arrested-for-alleged-sexual-assault-of-a-minor discuss among yourselves .. I will try to get back to you LADIES this evening.
star_enthraller December 08, 2012 at 06:40 PM
Starman, you realize this was an adult, like Heidi and yourself. Like Heidi and you, he was not a teacher or staff member. He was a parent. Maybe the board should stop approving hiring coaches from outside of the district employees. Ask around and see how many coaches have received complaints that are from outside of the district (I am willing to be it is more than the ones who are faculty or staff). They probably could find more coaches if the WCASD coaches' contracts weren't frozen for more than 3 years. But, you are not suggesting that all parents should be stopped from participating in all their children's sports or activities? Parents and teachers volunteer their time to chaperone dances for free. Parents and teachers work to educate children. What do you and Heidi do for students? Heidi contacts boys from the district according to her confession. Plus, she received a verbal warning from the people at Spellman, correct? Shouldn't the board be proactive and ask her to step down? Has anyone asked for her resignation (this month)?
Cathy Binder December 08, 2012 at 07:06 PM
The coach for Rustin has been brought up on criminal charges as is appropriate. The bottom line is he was NOT a teacher and before getting the contract to coach swimming did pass all criminal and state background checks. There was nothing in those that would have given the district any reason to not hire the individual for this position. And the background checks are from three sources - State Police for criminal background, State Child Abuse data base and the FBI. Not much more the district can do. Nobody can control the actions of sick individuals. Crimes are committed by all walks of person in all segments of society - doctors abuse patients, priests abuse children, fathers and mothers abuse their children. To act as though this is some unique aberration of society is ridiculous. All a school or any organization can do is to have good risk management in place. In the end each individual is in charge of their own behavior. Organizations must and do react when facts come forward. If all behaved as they should in accordance with the laws society has put forth we would not need a criminal justice system. So, star, I fail to see your point.
Heidi Adsett December 08, 2012 at 08:07 PM
I remember reading in one of my Psychology classes that people who are obsessed with sex/sexual relations, etc. often have “issues” of their own. They tend to project their own “issues” onto others because it's easier than admitting and addressing their own problems. Some of the issues these people have are performance issues, struggling with their sexual identity, etc. Now, I’m not a doctor, but I certainly hope that this isn’t the situation with star_enthraller. Although she/he is pretty obsessed with the topic. And maybe that’s why she/he goes by an alias. And maybe that's why she/he is so angry and bitter. As a concerned neighbor, you might want to go talk to someone about it if you do have "issues". There is nothing to be ashamed of. By the way, does anyone know how my good buddy Jim Davison is doing?
edufan December 08, 2012 at 08:20 PM
Heidi, why are you directing your comment to just star_entraller, yet ignore the constant sexual rantings of Star Thrower? Could it be that you personally know Star Thrower? If that is the case, than I hope that you are being a good neighbor and helping her/him because Thrower's comments are quite disturbing.
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 08:24 PM
You fail to see a lot Binder/Fell ... you fail to see there is no other of what you try to portray as a "Professional" that you can name who comes close to "PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER" as not only a child abuser, but a pedophile as well. I can show you two dozen cases (with links) in the last 2 months, including 3 in the same week from Berks County. And yes Binder/Fell - Teacher of Swimming is still a teacher .. as was David Devine a teacher at Penn Wood Elementary School - Not much more the district can do? still does not alter the truth that pedophiles will gravitate to where they can be within bodily contact with children. Enthraller - What I realize is that you manly girls from WC Vote will do whatever it takes, to get a union conspirator elected to the school board in order to shove it to the taxpayers .. using children as your plunger - you will even go so far as to champion a person for director who will choose to stuff their own body almost to the point of immobility - shouldn't taxpayers question the stuffing-mania of the teachers union, who have stuffed themselves and their legislative conspirators silly, with the financial future of children?
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 08:28 PM
The manly girls of WC Vote twisted sisters including yourself edufan are always the first to suggest inappropriate behavior .. I am simply untwisting the discussion back where it belongs ... on teachers
edufan December 08, 2012 at 08:39 PM
Name calling, again. Not nice.
edufan December 08, 2012 at 08:44 PM
Really, star, no other "profession" that even comes close? Have you scrutinized the massive court transcripts of the Roman Catholic Church? Why aren't you outraged by that?
Simon Campbell December 08, 2012 at 08:52 PM
Once again you demonstrate a lack of understanding about the law and how things work. In most school districts around PA the typical teacher has no idea about their rights. So they go to the Union and say "I'd like to resign" whereupon the Union Rep says "you can't" and cites to the Maintenance-of-Membership provision. That teacher then typically accepts the answer and the Board/Administration don't even know the resignation request was made. You presume Boards/Administrations routinely receive resignation requests. They might do on occasion, if a teacher is savvy and knows his/her rights, but alas most do not. The Union likes to keep it that way.
Simon Campbell December 08, 2012 at 08:56 PM
As fascinating as the tittle tattle local gossip of anonymous bloggers may be, the much bigger issue is the one I made at 21:30 mins into this show. We don't need to merely end teacher strikes, we also need to end all teacher Unions, and send their leaders to Cuba. Logic and reason ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzzYGazQOB8
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 09:13 PM
Once again edufan you failed to read the word "professional" as you like to think of yourselves - further, the Catholic Church priests and nuns work as a "Calling", not a profession - and again, that masters degree you profess to own is leaving you a bit foolish, no? I do however see some similarity with Union Doctrine as a religion, in that they prey on children to further their dogmatic assertion that public education is the "new religion" and teachers are the new priests .. therein reinforcing my opinion that the WCASD elected school board has to be free to direct the education system without state-supported religious worship. "Shame on Unionists"
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 09:15 PM
MR. Speicher I direct this to you. This individual known as Star has a right of free speech but his constant reference to teachers as pedophiles cross all boundaries. This is now out of line and makes this news outlet look quite low. And Star - you are low and despicable. I have tried to be respectable, but that stops now. Enough - I can find instances and statistics of child abuse in all walks of life. To state that teachers are child abusers and pedophiles sickens me. Your comments no border in the area of slander and libel.
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 09:17 PM
And now you think you have the right of deportation Mr. Campbell because you disagree with unions? Somehow that may violate this Constitution you allege to love so much. Last I checked U.S. Citizens can't be deported for belonging to legal organizations much as you may dislike them.
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 09:41 PM
Okay Star, I just spent about 20 minutes trying to find any data that states school workers are any more likely than any other segment of society to be a pedophile than others. Can't find it. Now, granted I was not doing scholarly research, but I think such data would jump out on a google search pretty readily if such data was true. The bottom line is this, schools, sports organizations etc. can only do so much to protect themselves from individuals whose predilections or bad behaviors would lead them in this direction. I did risk management for a local soccer club many years ago. This kind of thing was our worst nightmare. We did background checks, but as the lawyer I worked with said, they only help if the person was ever caught. So tell me, what do you suggest? Due diligence by the district in this sad case was done. TheDevine case as well. His credentials were impeccable. What happened when it came to light - immediate suspension and he was FIRED!!!!. Don't recall the union backing up the guy there for one second. And the Rustin coach, was not a teacher even if you want to call him one. He was a coach, hired on a supplemental contract - not a union member, and that decision was made by ADMINISTRATION.
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Yes Decker there are child abusers in all walks of life .. and never have I written that ALL teachers are pedophiles ... what I have written is .. "name another professional occupation" that comes close to the abuse of children (both sexual and financial) I have yet to see you criticize the enthralled WC Vote for their veiled aspersions on Mrs Adsett's character, yet as soon as I lighten up on the real truth of child abuse by professionals, there's Decker with her biased indignation.
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 09:51 PM
How Many Kids Are Sexually Abused by Their Teachers? http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2012/02/is_sexual_abuse_in_schools_very_common_.html Go ahead and read it and reply .. and while you are welcome to put your union spin on it, I will also reply to whatever you write.
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 09:52 PM
I must agree in this case edufan. With all due respect Mrs. Adsett, I would ask you as a member of the board to please stand up against Mr. or Ms. Star Thrower's accusations that the teachers of the district are pedophiles. I would assume such an accusation would concern you and that as a representative of the district would speak on behalf of the teachers, of which I am one. I am quite offended by such speech, and while I respect the right of all to speak their peace, this is a step too far. I would hope and pray that the administration and elected representatives of the place where I am employed would speak up on behalf of myself and the other fine teachers who work there. I do believe you are a decent person and must agree on that point, correct?
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Doesn't matter, it does not categorize all teachers. Abuse is prevalent in all sectors of society, in all walks of life. So your statements are slanderous and libelous and you can be held accountable. The same way I could be for labeling ALL my students in such a manner by ethnicity, or culture. It has nothing to do with unionism. It has to do with law. I can tell you with absolute certainty and all who know me know this, I will not back down to you. I will not go quietly into the night. Your hate for unions does not give you the right to accuse people falsely. Free speech does have limits. You as an individual have crossed a line.
Simon Campbell December 08, 2012 at 11:30 PM
I said send them not deport them. Although you do raise a valid point i.e. we probably should find out who the illegal alien Union bosses are so we can deport them.
Star Thrower December 08, 2012 at 11:53 PM
ha ha - you asked me for proof that you were not educated well enough to find .. then you "sour grape" yourself ... BEAUTIFUL Do you know there is an email going around that states that some of the twisted sisters pass around their WC Patch logon names and passwords to confuse moderators?
Rosemary Decker December 08, 2012 at 11:59 PM
Wow, now you are stretching Mr. Simon. Firstly, in order to work in the U.S. you need to have a work visa, and a valid social security number. So if you are making an allegation that members of the teachers union are illegal that is quite a stretch. So I guess you are making some type of implication that multiple crimes are being committed by the school district (administration and the board who has the final authority to hire)? And if you send them to Cuba - how? By what authority? Last I checked in the United States you cannot just "send" citizens anywhere. The only individuals who can be removed and sent places are non-citizens.
Rosemary Decker December 09, 2012 at 12:02 AM
Hey star - prove that one, as it is a first to me. You are really too much. That is one for the laugh of the day come Monday. And so what anyway. Why does it matter? It seems to me that the only one spewing really vile statements here would be you. A few articles about some really ugly behavior, by true criminals in education does not condemn the whole profession. Anymore than a few corrupt police officers means that all police officers are corrupt and I know I could find TONS of articles in any given month about corrupt cops. So your "news" is really not much to use as factual evidence. But, I was watching the news tonight and you can be held civilly and criminally liable for your remarks, so I would be careful.
Star Thrower December 09, 2012 at 12:18 AM

Yeah, when I get into the building at 6:45 with my other teacher buds we will have a good laugh about it. That is of course before we start our plan to indoctrinate the minds of the children and plan our evil union takeover of the world. That comes later. (do you recognize sarcasm????)
