Great news for Henderson and its administration -- as well as the District and community! A thriving school district makes for better educated students, better communities and better property values. Kudos to the District -- especially Bob Sokolowski.

And if one closely looks at how close all the schools on the list are we can certainly say that our schools are thriving by and large. Hard to make the case, as some will that the district is failing in any regard. Good work by all - students, teachers, administration, community and families that support the good work.

WCASD is a wonderful school district, as many of us have been declaring for quite a while now. Congratulations to our OUTSTANDING high schools, and all of the other schools in the district!

Average property values declined inversely proportional with both property taxes and teacher perks in my township .. a 23% decline in 5 years (and no bottom in sight yet) - I would appreciate a 23% drop in our property taxes ... and teacher perks .. (union teachers, that is)

More than half of college graduates move back home, sociologist Katherine Newman wrote in her book, "The Accordion Family: Boomerang Kids, Anxious Parents, and the Private Toll of Global Competition," based on surveys conducted worldwide. http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/26/living/college-grads-moving-home/index.html It's the union teacher's who are thriving by and large (very large)

Yes, we have a whole slew of no-nothings declaring WCASD a wonderful district, don't we ... the facts tell a different story .. nationwide they are a joke ... internationally they would be hilarious if not so pathetic.
edufan October 29, 2012 at 12:18 AM
Again, that's a lie! Please stop bashing my district. It is one of the best around. YOU have no clue. Property value in my township have begun to go up again. Housing sales on the rise, too. My real estate friends tell me that one of reasons that are attracting buyers is our school district.
Star Thrower October 29, 2012 at 12:47 AM
Ok, I see you wish to begin the personal attacks on this thread also - tell me your township and I will show proof - what you are seeing and told by real estate people (no different than used car salesmen) is foreclosures that have been bought by the banks with stimulus (taxpayer) dollars .. at the original foreclosed toxic mortgage price .. there are thousands of those now being listed as sold .. they are also being put back on the market for suckers like you.

Edufan -- there is definitely a section of our population who like to 'throw' around lies and yet do nothing to help our kids, our district, our community, our state or our country. They're hate-mongers and not much more. Remember that on Nov. 6th.
Cathy Binder October 29, 2012 at 10:19 AM
And pray tell Star, what do you know? Do you have children in the schools? Have you ever visited the schools? Have you observed what goes on? Clearly what I have seen from your posts you have not analyzed any data at all. You really are not worth replying to, but I will as I am disgusted by your rhetoric as are most here. So, I will post if only to retort. You ignore the slowly improving economy, home sales etc. And by the way once again, WCASD has the LOWEST property taxes of any of the districts in the county. The only one extending personal attacks is you. The simple fact of disagreement is NOT a personal attack.

@K: Oh, believe me, I will. and so will a lot of other people who just cannot stand this right wing conservative tea party attitude. Now our "friend" hates realtors, too. and as for only foreclosed homes selling, not in my township. Once again, st, you are delusional. For the umpteenth time, have the courage to come from behind your username and tell us who you are and what you have to do with WCASD.

Once again, CB: SPOT ON!!
Cathy Binder October 29, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Funny according to this person all the ills of the world, the entire financial meltdown, banks too big to fail, scandals in the financial industry, the fall of the global economy in Europe, the decline of the housing market is all due to teachers and teachers unions. The laughable context of this is beyond delusional. For anyone who reads it to take it as more than comedy would say something about their level of mental acuity. I note our friend has not posted. I hope they are preparing for the bad weather. I am safe and secure home with my kids today, my company - those low life scum that they are - family friendly - wants us home and off the roads. Wonder how long until we hear the complaints that the teachers should have been at school today - in spite of the state of emergency. Sorry, the kids are watching a movie, and I am a bit bored.

If the unions are so strong we wouldn't have this massive income disparity in our country. Fortune 500 CEO pay has increased 380x compared to the average workers' pay over the last 30 years -- and teachers' pay has not kept pace. And when Corbett has gutted public education to the tune of $800 million in less than 2 years -- our kids' education is paying the price. The PA GOP is de-funding education so they can privatize it. Plain and simple.
Cathy Binder October 29, 2012 at 02:07 PM
K so right you are. But just wait until we hear about how teachers only work 6 hours a day for 8months a year. Personally, I think we need more unions, both white and blue collar. What has happened in this nation to all workers, at all levels is a disgrace. There is a reason that middle class wages have not kept pace. We have become complacent and think that because we can go to work and not fear machinery that will chop our hands off that the work of unions is done. How foolish. How many of us are working salaried jobs that require 60 or more hours a week, because we have downsized? Did you get a raise? Yet what has executive pay done in return for your increased productivity? Yeah, I get a bonus, a few nice perks. But when the CEO makes literally millions even my nice compensation package makes me take pause and wonder. And we have people posting here that teachers are the problem. Oh brother. We should applaud them for standing firm and fighting for fairness, they are the one professional group that is truly in the end speaking for us all. And in WCASD, the taxes are even low to boot, yet the kids continue to perform highly. So yeah, merit pay- where is the bonus for the vast majority of the kids performing well in the advanced range? I hear no talk of that from Mr. Murphy - you know why - they can't afford these educators.

Here we have simply one more word for word self deprecating quote from Binder's other name 7dPrinceton.
Cathy Binder November 03, 2012 at 08:45 PM
I will speak out, I speak for me and me alone. Now if you want me to be someone else in your imagination go ahead. Makes no matter to me. Again, I will state - the company I work for makes fine drugs for delusions - any good psychiatrist can do an evaluation and prescribe them. Avail yourself.
Star Thrower November 03, 2012 at 09:19 PM
That's pretty funny coming from the biggest psychotic in the WCASD ... but I am positive you're already on drugs since you are imagining me to be Sean Carpenter .. at least that's what you just posted EXACTLY 3 minutes before this post .. right here: http://te.patch.com//articles/national-merit-honors-local-students
edufan November 04, 2012 at 12:59 AM
Funny, no one ever mentioned anything about you being Sean Carpenter, except...well, YOU, Star.
Cathy Binder November 04, 2012 at 01:11 AM
You clearly do not read well Star, the post said that you are the mouthpiece for Sean and his ideologies. It said he has been rather quiet this year, total turn around from prior years. Very suspicious in my mind. So, somebody is behind the scenes I suspect stirring the pot - could that be you? Of course when you are uncovered it can't be Sean himself - think of the scandal!!!! So we cover it with you and you deny complicity perhaps? Though it would seem some are beginning to put the pieces ever so slowly together. Oh yes, you will cry conspiracy theory. Well, maybe or maybe not? Time will tell. In the meantime - do some careful reading. Last I checked it is what my kids are expected to do every day in the school district you love to attack.

Someone with such strong opinions yet too weak to put his/her name on them -- is a coward. We are about to vote in West Chester -- and if you believe in public education -- vote Democrat.
